I think people should be able to do things independent of their partner and shouldn’t assume or insist that their partner is welcome at every thing.
They were both always part of the friend group it seems. Suddenly they (or at least one dude and his gf) are asking for him to abandon her and come alone. This is unequivocally unfair and continuing to attend these gathering without the disinvited partner absolutely constitutes betrayal, and a very in-your-face one at that.
Couple that with the fact that the other friends seemed to not mind her coming, it's clearly the other guy's gf playing games. She should piss off.
