It's a pattern in Reddit comments. When you see it suggested everywhere, it holds more weight than a casual, one-time suggestion. There are definitely people who have an agenda of pushing this as an identity and many have never even been properly evaluated themselves.

That’s not how the world works though. You can’t tell her to cut off the casual banter and then expect her to still get the guidance that comes with a more casual relationship at work.
If you want her to act like a robot, then that’s a decision she’ll have to make. But acting like a robot at work will lead to her missing out on invaluable experience and advice that she can get from someone who has been doing this a hell of a lot longer.
