His work is extremely demanding. We both work from home on Tuesday and Thursday and I’ve never seen him take a break for lunch.
We feel really strongly about only using a nanny when necessary because it’s very expensive and we want to maximize bonding and family time. Currently, his schedule is 7:00am-4:00pm. My schedule is 9-6:30 (I’ll likely change to 10:00-7:30). The plan with splitting duties right now is for me to get up with the baby and for him to take afternoon duties. We’ll hire a nanny for the space in between and then both split responsibilities for evening, night, and weekends.
While I realize this “plan” is likely to change, there’s not a lot of wiggle room for him to sneak in extra hours of work. Him taking an extra work day radically alters this plan.
I never said he couldn’t help his family out. I got upset because he signed himself up for a 6 day work week without discussing it with me. By extension, he signed me up for a day of solo parenting. Those two days are also precious to us because it’s the only time we have as a family, and he just significantly cut weekend times down. Even when my feelings were terribly hurt that he just assumed I would take on this burden without asking, I STILL never told him no. I told him we need a few days to think about this and then we’ll come back with potential solutions.
And there is the real issue: his family IS going to lose everything. His parents have been running a deficit for years in a dying industry. A year ago I reviewed their numbers and advised them to sell. They refused. I see absolutely no recover and the free labor of their children are only prolonging the inevitable. Frankly, it doesn’t even make sense. We have a lot of options of how we can help them, but this seems to be the most tiresome and irrational.

Fix yourself first.
Recognize that he’s a creep and a pedo grooming a child. Call CPS or cybertipline.com. Break up with him.
