Because some people value independence? My husband doesn’t need my passwords because I show him literally everything. If we had a mutual expense that we needed to take out debt for, we could do that jointly without combining accounts. We already had separate accounts and a joint account before we got married, so it would actually be more work to combine everything rather than keeping the status quo. Plus if you have all the same accounts, you can never make surprise purchases for your partner.
I don’t understand why you have such a chip on your shoulder about this. Different styles work for different couples. Life involves nuance. Not everyone has to do everything the way you want them to.

And my guess is there is a lot more context to the story. The fiancee isn't the bad guy in this story. I think if the OP would reveal all of the details he's conveniently left out, it will be even clearer. I was married to a man who was married to his father, who called me horrible names, fucking tortured and embarrassed me with his wife for years and years. Absolutely insufferable toxic people. My husband never defended me, not even once. Too afraid of losing his father's love, I guess. I feel more for the fiancee than anyone in this story. I certainly don't have any sympathy for the rest of the players in this mess. Her soon-to-be-husband is placing his bromance above the relationship that's supposed to matter the most. And don't even get me started on the afterparty.
