I don't disagree with the points you are making in regards to how he's made her feel. Some people just don't know what's happening to them until it hits them in the face.
It's obvious that she wants it to work out, if what I've suggested fails then there are other avenues to take – ie splitting up. The reason why I'm specifically suggesting the approach I've detailed is because it cuts through the shit & helps both parties be heard, even if it is uncomfortable.
