Oh my god OP. My heart breaks for you. As a father of three kids myself very close in age to yours to can’t even begin to imagine what you and your wife must be going through. there are children involved in this situation, and your finances aren't in the best place. regardless of what happens between you two, I'm sure she's a good parent right? your kids deserve two happy healthy, present parents not splitting time or not seeing one parent or missing out on a family. even your finances may be drastically affected by a divorce and custody battles only for what outcome, for the kids to lose a loving mom/dad just because of marriage trouble? there are people who stay and work though it provided the one who had the affair is open to working and putting in the effort. reddit is quick to jump to divorce and are completely intolerant to cheating, but this is YOUR life, your kids best interests need to be protected. so don't feel pressured by any of the responses and take it one step at a time.
I know two women who did the same as OP and are still with the guys they fell in love with. Both going strong over 20 years and both married. Did not do too good with the kids (I'm one if them), but that was just shitty parenting. OP seems to have the stats and realities figured out AND seems to do well with the kids. Ex seems vindictive and unhealthy and if OP and her new love are happy, good for them.

Let me just tell you that when you kill a skunk it's scent glands will empty out where it dies. It will take ages for that smell to go away, especially if it's an area that doesn't get much exposure to the weather. So if it's anywhere near your home this is really not a good idea.
I know this because my brother-in-law shot a skunk that had made it's den underneath their deck. They had to have a professional service come out to try to remove the scent and even then it still stunk up the house for months and months.
It's better to consult a professional animal removal service who can remove the skunk and give you tips on how to keep them out of the yard and away from the dog.
