I know it is hard and it is not easy for everybody, but you need to learn to stand up for yourself in these situations, don't expect others to do that for you. You could have simply told Jack to shut the fuck up right then and there, confront him with everybody around and tell him to show some respect or simply get up and leave the situation – do not let others talk to you like that. I know it is not an ideal situation and you don't want to blow up your boyfriends friendgroup, but IMO you don't want to hang out with people who let behaviour like that slide.
I have a friend like Jack as well. He does not pick fights with me ever, but I saw him being a massive dick to others and I don't forget these things. I am nowhere near as close to him as I have been back in the days.
